Leisure for children in Alicante
The combination of the terms leisure and children seems particularly appropriate in a province such as that of Alicante, where there are at least 300 days of sunshine every year. Thanks to that, we have an abundance of opportunities for taking the youngest among us to one of the uncountable beaches or bays across its 245 kilometres of coastline.
Alicante is, nevertheless, a lot more than sunshine and beaches: it offers many leisure options when it is about having a great time with our children.
Fun-packed options for a child audience
A visit to the Castle of Saint Barbara. This is a highly enjoyable activity at our reach in the province’s very own capital, on the Benacantil mountain, that can be reached on foot or by car. It is located at a height of 165m and we recommend you take the children there on foot, using the lift that you can find near the Postiquet beach. Once in the castle, apart from having the children let their imagination run free with the cannons that can be found there, you should enter the MUSA, the Museum of the City of Alicante.
Go on a pirates and corsairs’ adventure on the island of Tabarca. It is one of those places that leave a mark, a stretch of land that emerged from the sea of barely 2 kms in length. It can be reached by boat from Alicante or Santa Pola and leaves quite the impression due to the beauty of its sea bottoms. It is a place where children discover that happiness exists, whether it is diving or imagining exciting adventures in its rocky areas.
Discover the Fuentes (Wells) de Algar. They can be found in the municipality of Callosa d’en Sarrià. After spending days and days on the beach, your children will be grateful for being able to take a dip in the sweet waters where the river is born. They will enjoy visiting a place that represents a joy for the senses, and in which the loquat fruit is particularly prominent. The wells can be visited from Alicante in an organised trip in which a visit to the Castell (Castle) of Guadalest is also included.
A visit to the Castle of Guadalest. It is one of the most beautiful towns in the whole of Spain. Both the centre of the town and the castle are situated on top of some rocks of limestone that rise above the landscape. It is an environment of a high ecological value where the valleys of Gallinera and Ebo and crop fields with luscious vegetation stand out.
Wake up your children’s inner cave explorer. A very enjoyable activity available offered by the province of Alicante since the effect of the water has been forming caves throughout the years that are very nice to visit. How is this possible? Because it is a region where the soil is made up out of limestone. To highlight some specific caves, we would like to suggest those of Canelobre in Busot or the ones of the Calaveras (Skeletons) in Benidoleig.
The province of Alicante offers uncountable options for having a good time; you can, of course, visit its theme parks, but there is also an easier and cheaper way such as the 5 leisure and tourism options that we just suggested.
